National academic network

The national academic network CARNet connects all major cities. Its backbone links the universities (Dubrovnik, Osijek, Pula, Rijeka, Split, Zadar, Zagreb) at 155 Mbps and 1 Gbps. CARNet has a 1.2 Gbps link to GÉANT.
CARNet is funded by the Croatian government. The budget in 2004 is € 7.9 million.

National GRIDs

CRO-GRID is a national grid project. The current CRO-GRID computing infrastructure consists of 19 nodes in 5 institutes (SRCE, IRB, GRADRI, FESB and ETFOS).
