National academic network

The national academic network CYNET links the University of Cyprus and 9 other educational establishments. Its backbone runs at 155 Mbps and has a 155 Mbps link to GÉANT (via GRNET). CYNET is operated by the computer and networking department of the university.
CYNET’s 2004 budget is € 1.26 million.

National GRID

The CyGrid initiative at the University of Cyprus has been established as local node of the CrossGrid project. The CyGrid Beowulf cluster has 6 processors (2.2 GHz).
