National academic network

GRENA, the Georgian Research and Educational Networking Association, was founded in 1999 as a non-profit organisation with the aim to create a network infrastructure for Georgian research and educational institutions, libraries and non-profit organisations. Now the GRENA network connects more than 300 institutions. The backbone operates at 2 Mbps. International connectivity to GÉANT is at 3 Mbps via DFN.
The 2004 budget is € 0.25 million.
