National academic network

RENAM, the Research and Networking Association of Moldova, is a non-profit organisation founded in 1999 to establish and develop a scientific and educational network in Moldova. RENAM is supported by the Ministry of Science and Education of Moldova, the Academy of Science of Moldova and the universities and received for the network infrastructure funding from the NATO Science Programme. The 2004 budget is € 0.1 million.

RENAM connects 4 universities, 25 scientific institutes, 11 colleges, 6 libraries and 4 public organisations at speeds of 64 kbps up to 2 Mbps. International connectivity is through a 8 Mbps link to GÉANT (via RoEduNet, Romania).
